i have decided i want my kids 6-10 years apart . everyone in my family says that is a horrible idea & that no one should do that . i really cant imagine having my kids close in age . my 2 little cousins are 2 1/2 years apart & to see how they act is crazy . i wouldn't be able to handle it . i want my child to understand that momma needs to pay close attention to the new baby , & to not get upset at that . i also want them to help me with a few things regarding chores , or helping me with the baby .

Both can have ups and downs. My cousins are 8 years apart. When my aunt got pregnant the second time the 8 year old started to rebel because they felt unwanted since the baby got all the attention. I know people (including my husband) that felt really used as the older sibling. That they were more a caregiver than a brother or sister.

My big brother and I are 3 years apart, and our little brother is 14 and 17 years apart from us. Honestly, I love having a 9 year old brother at 23 years of age. I have an amazing relationship with my brother and unbreakable bond. And funny enough we still fight like brother and sister close to age 😂

Not crazy, it's your life and your kids. Nobody else can tell you want to do. I understand what you mean, I'm sure it would be hard having to chase around two little babies.

I agree! You should do want you want and what's best for your family. My LO is almost 5 years old and he will be the best big brother then his little brother arrives in Dec. We try to explain things to him like "Mommy and Daddy will need to spend alot of time with the new baby because he can't do anything for himself". He says he will help when the baby comes also! We have included him in our pregnancy by taking him to ultrasounds and incorporated him in the gender reveal. I don't think he would have been as into it if he was younger. At times I wish that we would have had them closer together, but I think it turned out for the best! Good luck to you!

My husband and his brother are 6 years apart and just started getting along when he turned 18. My mom and aunt are 10 years and aren't close at all and my sister and I are 3 and only became close when I turned 18. Then this baby and his brother will be 5. I think its all luck of the draw. Personally I think 5 is perfect because my stepson can now shower by himself and dress himself which where the most time consuming.

My son is 11 and my daughter is 2 months. I didn't plan for a 2nd child it was a surprise. I will say the pregnancy was much worse this time around and my energy level is none existent. That's just something to keep in mind. We basically raised my niece who is 5 now so he had a practice sister. She did not live with us but I had her everyday and she spent the night often. He resented having take care of her but my sister had a drug problem. I had to explain to him it was our job to look after her and keep her safe. He's always been her "handler" as she is a wild beast. I feel bad for forcing him be so involved with taking care of her but I was just trying to make due with the situation. They can have jealously over siblings with any age gap. I'm going to be dealing with drivers permits and preschool at the same time. That terrifies me. Lol. Good luck. Do what is best for you. Mine will be 6 years apart. It wasn't exactly intentional but just they way life worked out. I was grateful for that difference when I was sick with pregnancy as my #1 is pretty independent and only needs minimal supervision. He feeds himself, dresses himself. He's so excited about the baby and he talks constantly about wanting to give him milk and help with his bath. We talked to him about what will happen when the baby comes.
On the other hand, only kids do need more work than those with siblings or maybe just my son. I feel that people I know with kids closer in age have more easygoing children.

My, little sister is 2 1/2 years younger than me and my little brother is 15 years younger than me.  I am extremely close to both of them,  so I think it would work in all honesty
