IUD and Pills?

I got my IUD placed in the beginning of August. Since then, I've been having my period every 2 weeks. Yes, every TWO! Once it was 8 days and the last one was 11 days. Based on the app, I'm due to start in like 5 days from now. Sigh..... My doctor recommended I take one packet of birth control pills to help regulate it. She doesn't want me to take my old pills Yaz, but wants me to take LoEsterol. My SO and I are worried about my mood change if I were to switch to this. Have any of you done the pill with the IUD? I do have temperament issues with fluctuating hormones so I need advice if I should tough out the periods or risk me getting "hormonal" with adding the pill to my IUD.
