Baby shower or not?

Question

Did anyone choose not to have a baby shower and later regret it?

I'm torn because of difficult schedules and families maybe not getting along the greatest, as well as cost... I feel like it might be a bigger headache than it's worth?

I haven't had a shower and won't and I'm perfectly happy with that. The whole idea of throwing a party where I'd be centre of attention and people feel obligated to bring gifts makes me uncomfortable.  We're well enough off to buy everything our baby needs ourselves and I quite like choosing and buying things for him myself.  I see all the drama and entitlement on here about baby showers and I know I've made the right decision for me. My baby is being born in November so I think in the run up to Christmas we'll have a little get together for people to come meet him.

Have aomething small in your house and let everyone invited know they keep their attitudes in check or kick rocks.

Thanks for responses everyone... if anything I think we'll just have a quiet family dinner, super casual, etc. Just like a regular family dinner.

I see them the same way I see bridal showers. I don't think they are fun. I didn't have a bridal shower. Since I moved away, my mom wants to have a party when I come home and we will call it a baby shower but it is really just going to be family/friends getting together.
