flu shot?

I am 7 weeks and my obgyn recommends the flu shot. I am leaning towards no. Any suggestions?

My OB doesn't recommend any shots during pregnancy, especially the flu shot. I'm normally pro vaccines, but the FDA isn't allowed to do any type of studies as far as vaccines on pregnant women, so it's one of those things where you get it at your own risk. I'm not willing to risk anything happening to me or my unborn baby for a flu shot. I've never had the flu in my life, and I've also never had the flu shot in my life.

I have never had a flu shot in my life and I don't give them to my kids either. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I will be declining it again this season. I do other vaccinations but I don't trust the flu vaccines. Most vaccines are researched and tested for years before released to the public. Because the flu vaccine is different every year, they aren't able to test and research those vaccines for nearly as long, most likely a matter of months, not years. They change the antigens in the vaccine every year to match the strain they are GUESSING will be most common for the upcoming season but keep everything else the same but that is enough of a change that that I want that vaccine to be tested and researched for YEARS before I'm comfortable with it. I will not be injecting myself or my children with a vaccine that is not throughly tested.

DONT DO IT!!! I'm sorry to everyone I'm going to offend but i was pregnant 6 years ago, I was 6 weeks when my obgyn said I had to get a flu shot or they would drop me from the clinic. So I got the flu shot because at the time I didn't have good insurance and didn't want to have to find another doctor. Three days after the flu shot I started bleeding, by the night of the third day I was having a full blown miscarriage. I was also sick with flu like symptoms. I am not saying it was directly related but I've heard several other women say the same thing happened to them. Please don't judge me for this comment as this is just my experience...

No - don't get it while pregnant. There is no conclusive evidence that it has absolutely no effect on your baby while in utero, so it's absolutely not worth the risk. I got both the tdap and flu shots in the hospital after delivering but refused to get both while I was pregnant - and my midwife actually told me she would have done the exact same thing. Until they can point me to a study that shows it won't hurt my unborn child, I refuse to take that chance.

I got both the flu shot and the tdap. While the flu shot can have vary in its effectiveness because they're making educated guesses about which flu strains will hit each year, the tdap is VERY effective and safe... and whooping cough is terrifying in infants.
I'd say get both, if you're really uncomfortable, just do tdap.
