How old were you when you decided you wanted another kid?

Question

I'm 17 and pregnant, I'm due in March and will be 18 in June. I've always wanted two children, but I want them somewhat close in age. How close in age are your children?

I'll be 23 when I have my second and my son will be 5. I know there was no way I could emotionally or financially take care of another child when I was 18 and am so glad I waited. Our kids might not be close in age but my five year old is very excited about being a big brother. He also loves to help and I think that's going to make things easier in their own way.

I was 19 when I had my first. I didn't have my life in order the way I would have wanted for him. It wasn't until I was 30, before I was comfortable with bringing another life into this world. The age gap is huge, nearly 11 years, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It's nice to have children close in age, but seeing as my first baby wasn't planned, I just readjusted my priorities. Good news is, despite the age gap, my two kids are crazy about each other. They're very close. I wish you luck no matter what you decide. Ideally, if things had worked out differently, mine would have been no more than 2-3 years apart.

It is definitely better to keep them closer in age. My son was born when I was 17, first daughter when I was 19, second daughter when I was 24. I'm now on my 4th pregnancy at 29. My youngest, it's a struggle. It upsets her that she can't do what the bigger kids can. Saddens me to watch her cry.

I was 18 when I had my first.... I had my second 7 years later when I knew more about what I wanted in life and was genuinely READY. Now I'm having babies 3&4. Having a baby at 18 was so much different than having one at 25 I can't even describe it.

I had my first at 18 little girl I wasn't ready for more kids till later down the line had my son last January at 23 and I'm due to have my son in feb so there is five years between my son and daughter I'm happy for that I'm older got my life in order she's a big help I wanted mine close together but five years is actually perfect but my sons will have 1 year 1 month between them

I have a 6yr old and a 5yr old. They are 16 months apart. My third is gona be 7 yrs younger than my daughter and 5.5yrs younger than my son. It makes me want to have another after this current pregnancy so they can have a close sibling. but this pregnancy has been a little rough and my first two were as well. All 3 have been high risk. Its funny because my first born was born in march, im due in march with this one. so if i stick to my plan theyll have close birthdays to their older sibling. lol.

I am currently 25 and having my first. We want 3 kids. We plan on trying to wait 3 years in between kids. For me it's both a good and a bad thing for kids to be that close in age. My brother and I are 19 months apart. Planned that way. Growing up my brother and I fought all the time in our opinion looking back because how close in age we were. We were expected to do everything together, do the same things etc. Once we got older though being so close in age has made us really really close. We would do anything for each other.

I am 31 and i have 14, 11 and 5... im 17 weeks with my last. Honestly having just under a 3 yr gap between my first 2 was awesome. My son was old enough to participate in holding bathing feeding and bonding. They grew up being best friends and are still very close for brother and sister. Plus he was old enough to ask questions. It was a great bonding experience for all 3 of us.

We had our first at 17 and will be having our second at 23. I do think I would have liked them closer in age but for us, we just weren't financially ready until about two years ago, and then we struggled to conceive for a bit. It's going to be different for everybody.
