how do I ask without being rude?

I am having a baby shower on Friday and it's going to be at my apartment. I invited my sister-in-law and she has two kids but I don't want them to come because they are sooo hyper! They terrorize my house  and I don't want to feel like I'm babysitting at my baby shower. I have more reasons but I just don't want her kids to come. How do I ask my sister without being rude or offensive? I know that I have other friends bringing their little kids (I'm okay with that but I can't say no kids allowed because of that so how do I ask?

I'm sorry Hun, unfortunately because you said other kids can come and didn't have an adult only baby shower. There is no way your sister in law won't take it personally. She might be okay with you asking bot to bring them, but as soon as she finds out other kids are going she will be hurt. Maybe just make it no kids allowed for all or let her bring her kids.

Just tell her that they need to behave and you shouldn't have to hover over them while you are trying to have a good time. If they start to act up then they need to go home. Be firm. It's you're home, your baby shower.

You shouldn't be babysitting anyways if they are her children. I would just go the shower with the intent of enjoying myself and if it becomes a problem, pull her to the side and discretely tell her that it's a problem. I would like to think she would tell her children to behave at a party or just not bring them... But some people just don't have common sense 🙄🙄🙄

I dunno if you can ask her without her taking offense especially when you're allowing other small kids to come I'm not saying I think you're being rude or trying to hurt her but I don't know if you could do it without hurting her feelings
