toddler lip tie?

We have recently noticed our daughter has a lip tie between her two front teeth. She is 16 months. It's slowly become more noticeable and never noticed before I guess because she had no problems breastfeeding. Has anyone had the frenectomy done for their child as a toddler? I'm going to talk to her dr about it next week at her Checkup. Everything I've read says she has to be put under and it scares me to death. Thanks!
