Induction for gestational diabetes?

Mom's who've had gestational diabetes in a past pregnancy, were you induced early because of it? Was it scheduled? How early if you were? I just found out that I have gestational diabetes and I want to carry to term! I also want him to be healthy. I'm terrified of having a csection, although I will if necessary. I didn't have this with my first son. I was induced 2 weeks early with him though because of hypertension and he was born weighing 8.2lbs. My son is already measuring 2 weeks ahead. Also I'm worried because I've heard that the placenta starts to deteriorate earlier with gestational diabetes. Is that true?
