Present for the Hubs??

Question

FTM and while we are excited for our little girl to arrive, I'm also realizing that the time where it's just me and the hubs is about over. It's kinda bittersweet.

I want to get him something that kinda commemorates our last 8 years while embracing this next part of our lives.

So I guess I have two parts to this post:

1- Anyone else feel like this?
2- Are you/have you done anything kind of like my present idea?

*And just to be real clear here- This baby was planned and we want her. Just coming to terms with this closing chapter of our lives.

I'm putting together a care package for him.  Already got one of his favorite shower gels, and a sports bib.  Plan on getting snacks and stuff, then packing it into the diaper bag he wants.  It's kind of a "shower" gift for him.

I love that idea! I have thought bout getting him something just to say thank you for everything he does around the house but not sure what says that!

I totally identify with you. And I can only imagine how much more intense it must be for you having been married for so many years already without this huge upcoming change.

My DH went out on a date last week and we started getting so teary and sentimental. He turned to me and said "You realize she's going to change our entire world?" So true. And it was said without any resentment. We both wanted and have been praying for this. We're so in love with her already. But it is, like you say a bittersweet thing.

I hadn't thought about a gift yet but I think it's a great idea. I think that at the very least I will write him a letter expressing my thanks for this beautiful chapter we've experienced together and in anticipation of entering a new chapter of our lives --  still together-- with an additional blessing.

We'd planned on having a babymoon next weekend (wk 31) but sadly, I think we will have to cancel. I have a bit of a complication (abnormally large amount of amniotic fluid) and may need to be admitted into the hospital this week.  (At least I'd have time to write that letter if nothing else!)

Anyway, you are not alone in feeling all these mixed feelings. I think it's healthy and realistic. God bless you as you process through this and come up with an appropriate gift. Whatever you pick, I'm sure your hubby will be deeply touched by the gesture itself and the love behind it. 💗
