What does rib kicks feel like?

I'm laying on my side and feeling movement and twice now I've felt this weird "popping" sensation or kick higher up like right at the edge of rib cage. It almost felt a gas bubble in my stomach. Could this be baby kicking high or is probably just gas? I'm 23 weeks and his movements are very obvious, but they've always been low, but a few days ago we found out he had turned so I'm thinking he'll start kicking my ribs soon so I'm curious if that's a rib kick!
