Birth control pills

So lately my skin has been breaking out somewhat bad. For the last three years I seem to have break outs around my mouth that seem to stick around. I heard it could be due to hormones changing. I've only tried one topical gel but it dries out my skin so the dr suggested going straight to birth control pills.  I tried a new face wash this last week and my skins is clearing up pretty nice. So my delimma is today is the day I should be starting the pill (for the first time ever) but I'm not sure if I should wait until next month to start to see how my skin does with this new cleanser or just start the pill today. I don't really want to be on the pill since I'm not sexually active and it does mess with hormones, but I have a feeling these break outs are due to hormones. Suggestions? Thanks!
