Pap smear please answer !!

Ladies do Pap smears hurt ? I got my first one today and it was kinda painful Iam not a Virgin im married but my husband always says im really tight .. When they did the Pap smear it hurted i don't know why? Could if have been that I wasn't relaxed ?? Or that the doctor wasn't gentle ?? Can this have mest me up down there ? Are you suppose to spot a little ?
