birth story (sorry it's long)
It's almost been 2 months since I had my son and wanted to share my birth story. My water broke at 4:00am on August 30th my due date. I had my mom take me to the hospital since my husband was at work. I get to the hospital and all the nurses didn't believe me when I said it WAS my water. I think because it was my first and most have false alarms. They tested with a strip thing that was negative. They did another test with a swab and that was positive! I was so happy, excited, and nervous I was going to be meeting my little boy soon! I was told since my water broke I only had 18 hours to deliver him. I was thinking oh I'll definitely have him before then. Boy was I wrong! I went in thinking it was going to go so fast I should have known better. I was only a 2 or 3 around 7am. They started pitocin to get things going faster. This scared me because I didn't want to have to be induced I heard the contractions were bad. Hours go by and not much progression. The contractions were so intense and on top of it I had back labor and holly hell was that painful! My back pain was so painful I couldn't feel my contractions. I tried so many thing s to ease the pain from bouncing on a ball, heating pads, and back rubs. Not much helped. Around 11pm I was checked again and was told I was a 6 and had a bulging bag! Everyone is shocked and confused since my water already broke. Minute after they broke it I was a 9 then a 10. I was so happy to hear I was a 10 and was going to start pushing but was told his head was not engaged and I need to sit up and push on my own to get him down. This part was so bad! I just let my body take control and do what felt right. I pushed as if I had to take a big poop. 😂 I'm not sure how long I was pushing like that before the doctor came In and I was ready to deliver. I pushed for 2 hours. I also had an option to watch myself give birth which I did. They brang a big mirror in so I could see. And at 5:26 am August 31st my beautiful son was born weighing 8lbs 13oz! I'm very small so it shocked me he was that big! I did have a 3rd degree tear and had to get stitches. I did it all natural with no epidural. My husband was so great on keeping me focused the entire time! My birth was so painful and so long but I would do it over again in a heart beat!!
