When will breastfeeding stop hurting?!

First time mom here and breastfeeding! Baby is 2 days old and is latching fine and eating great! The only issue is how much it hurts! When will it begin to feel less painful? The other problem is my left nipple has always been sensitive to touch and now it's really an issue in breastfeeding.

For me, it took 4 weeks for the pain to go completely away. By 6 weeks I felt like an old pro.

In the meantime use lanolin/nipple butter, gel pads (keep them in the fridge when not wearing them) and take Tylenol to help with pain. Also, shower with a bathing suit top in if the water hitting them causes pain.

The first couple of days I allowed my daughter to latch poorly. The lactation consultant corrected it but by then they were already cracked and bloody. It wasn't until around week 5 that the pain went away for me. After that it was no longer a problem. Hope it doesn't take you as long to adjust. Good luck!

About 10-14 days. Express some milk and rub it onto your nipples after each session and let them air dry. After use some lanolin cream. It helps so much.

And tbh after my LO nurses all day during a growth spurt my nips still get a little sore but by the next day they feel better.

Just hang in there if you can.

If the latch is right then you shouldn't be in pain at all. Just uncomfortable for a few seconds when baby latchs but that's all. YouTube the perfect latch and be sure it's correct. Good luck 😊

Mine hurt (with a good latch) for 10 days or so, then it became mildly uncomfortable for another week and after that it felt fine. Nipples just need to adjust for some women.

With the mention that they didn't hurt the whole feeding, just the first minute or so. If that's the case with you too then just keep at it and it will get much better.
