Confused

My boyfriend chose a friendship over me. I know it sounds petty and immature but he almost left because I have an issue with the actions of this friend with him. I just don't know what to do. He says he loves me but he doesn't show it well. I feel like I come second. And trust me, I've tried talking and he just always gets angry.
