Castor oil?

I am 2cm dilated and 80% effaced.. I'm 38 weeks and 1 day and I've decided to try and kick myself into labor.. I took 2 1/2 tablespoons on castor oil.. hoping it will get things moving along. Not sure it will work. But so tired of being so big and 😣.. have any of you ladies tried this out?

I was told to completely avoid that. It can make baby poop inside of you. That can be very dangerous.

I took it but took a lil bit more then a shot and sucked on oranges after. Then u have to drink tea after that all the oil flushes out of your system. Didn't work for me though just cleaned out my bowels. Went into labor a week after my grams wanted me to dry castor oil again but I said no it's nasty lol

Just do your research and know the risks that can come from castor oil... it does lead to diarrhea sometimes and contractions but u also risk your baby having a bowel movement and if the meconium is swallowed it could really harm baby which could lead to time in the nicu. Good luck!

I tried it on Tuesday around 3pm. Mixed 2 tablespoons into about 4-6oz of a chocolate milkshake. Was still pretty nasty. Nothing happened for 4 hours then I started getting contractions. I made sure I had water and Gatorade to drink to stay hydrated. At 7pm contractions started. I refused to go to L&D until about 11pm. Contractions were 2-4 minutes apart. On Monday I was 3cm dilated and 50% effaced. When they checked me there I was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced. They made me drink juice and the contractions died off and I had no cervix change. So they sent me home. 2 days later and I'm here with this baby still inside of me. I will NOT be trying that again! I got a little taste of what contractions feel like and I'm good waiting for when baby wants to come now. 😂

I did it with my second pregnancy . Took it in the morning and went into labor that night .

I tried it about 2 weeks ago. It gave me mild contractions but didn't move anything along. I'm planning on trying again today. My only word of advice is drink quickly with something that is super flavorful. I did orange juice, stirring between each gulp, but my last sip was mostly oil and I couldn't get it down. I'll definitely down it more quickly so it doesn't have any opportunity to separate.
