bloody show?

This is probably a stupid question as I might already know the answer, I'm 38 weeks today and my doctor checked my cervix yesterday due to contractions, she said I was still closed but a little soft. Ever since I've been having brown discharge and can't tell if it's just from her checking me or my "bloody show". Could it be either or? Been having contractions on and off, second baby.
