Do white noise machines work?

I haven't slept for longer than 4 hours strait in 8 months. I'm struggling over here. I've tried it all. We had been using her fan for white noise but now that it's getting cooler I was thinking about using a noise machine instead. Anyone have any luck with this or should I just save my money?

I have a Ewan the dream sheep! He's fantastic, beautiful sounds including heart beat, white noise & a lovely tune 🎼 highly recommended. My boys love falling asleep to it. Also has a warm red light. Think he's a must :) good luck x

We use a white noise machine and it is pretty great for covering up gdberal house noise and was especially useful when my LO was a newborn. That being said, it is not the magic pill for bad sleep. If your baby is still sleeping poorly he mostly likely has issues self settling. It may be time to consider sleep training. I like Ferber and Weissbluth but there are others out there with "no cry" methods (although I'm skeptical about how well that works especially in other babies). But whatever you do, consistency is key.

I swear by the sound machine! I've had since my baby was born and he is able to sleep through the night. They are not expensive at all I feel they are totally worth it.

I think it would be worth getting the white noise machine. You will probably end up using it even as your LO gets older, especially if your house is noisey. You figure spending $50 for a good one that you will use maybe 3 or 4 years - not a bad investment.

We have been using ours since LO was two months old. I don't know if it's helped her sleep any better (probably not) but it helps to drown out noise from the jerks neighbors or from in the house so she isn't woken up.

I have been using a white noise machine for my baby since day 1. She has slept through the night since she was 7 weeks old. I don't know if the noise is the reason but I'm a big fan of the white noise. Just make sure it's at the correct decibel level. I don't remember what it was exactly but it told me in a book and I downloaded a decibel app to check it. I would just google it.
