Can i ask to be induced?

Hi im 38 weeks will be 39 weeks this coming thursday & i remember last week my doctor said that for my appointment this coming monday we can talk about induction. But im wanting to ask him if i can be induced this coming thursday i just want this baby out of me lol. Anyways im nervous to ask cuz im not sure if i can electivley ask to be induced im assuming cuz he mentioned that we would talk about it. Anyway prayers that i can be induced this coming week. (: i live in Idaho by the way im not to sure how there rules are but i do no they can induce at 39 weeks.

Unnecessary induction isn't healthy for your baby. In healthy pregnancies, babies stay in until they're ready for the outside world. Even just a few days early can affect their development. In my opinion nothing is worth that. Also remember induction medication raises the risk of a c-section as well heightened pain (they're synthetically producing contractions, not naturally with the body so they're much stronger) as other complications.

Let baby come when he/she is ready ☺ 🌸 it truly is so much better for baby AND mom. Good luck k

Well considering you want to be induced just because and not for a medical reason your OB probably will make you wait until you're 40 weeks, but all you can do is ask. I suggest saying "how soon can i be induced" that way the OB can tell you when they are willing to and you don't sounds as impatient.

Thank you all for ur responses i saw my doctor today and im 3cm dilated and he is gonna induce me this thursday at 7a.m. im very nervous and excited to finally meet my son. (:

You can ask but sometimes they refuse to do it unless you're late. I know one girl got induced at 39 weeks for no more of a reason than she was really uncomfortable, but another who's doctor refused, even though her baby was measuring ahead and she was trying to have it scheduled so her husband (who was military) could come home for the birth.

I always electively induce. I just mention "how soon can I be induced?" I'll be getting induced Monday night/Tuesday morning at 39 weeks.

My ob is going to,induce me at 39 weeks and we have been set on that since 32 weeks bc I'm due in Thanksgiving. But as long as your cervix is favorable then they usually are,willing to. Unless it's your first my old ob with my 1st born wouldnt.

Just so you know, I found a significant difference between the pain level of contractions with my first labor (went into labor naturally) and my second (induced). In the induced labor, the contractions were much more painful, longer, and more intense. But who knows, it may well be worth it depending on how tired you are of being pregnant!
