Am I being ungrateful?!

Question

I have always told my S/O that I wanted a shiny ring. Nothing expensive just with a simple stone in the middle. Like cubic zirconium I think it's called. Instead I got an all metal ring. I just don't like it...it's not pretty to me at all and it doesn't even fit right...am I being ungrateful? I mean I'm glad he went through all the trouble of getting me a ring and I love him to death. It's just not what I expected.

Considering you were okay with a CZ I don't think so. Just remember though you can always get the ring you want and just keep the one he gave you in a safe place. It's always more about the meaning.  I don't wear my real wedding rings. They mean too much to me, and if I lost them I'd just cry and be really tore up. I usually wear a CZ/silver ring that looks similar but it's not exact. It was around $40 for the set. Look up palmbeachjewler. Com.

That is a ring that you have to look at a lot. Like everyday. I don't blame you for wanting something pretty that you like! It's important to appreciate the gesture but Maybe also let him know that you wouldn't mind upgrading in the future.🙂

It is not being ungrateful if you are hurt that he has ignored you. If he says it is then that's his problem. You made it clear you wanted something specific because this is very special to you. He didn't listen. 
My dad would do that to me. I would say I wanted chocolate cake for my birthday and he would get red velvet, his favorite. And he would get the things he liked, and then be so offended if I was upset. But it was MY BIRTHDAY, so it's not fair he would choose what he wanted like that. I used to think, if he isn't going to get what I ask, why does he even bother?

If this was a matter of not being able to afford something it would be different. But you're saying you wanted a shiny ring, and a wedding ring is a BIG DEAL to some people. Obviously to you since you're getting married! It is kind of hurtful that he got you something else when you clearly wanted something prettier. You are NOT ungrateful and screw the jerks in here saying you are. 
You are allowed to be upset when he has ignored you!!!!!

Maybe he wants to start out and build up? I know many people that have a basic ring and no stone in them and they are quite happy. If you aren't happy then talk to him to find out what his mindset was or if it was a money matter. Either way, if an object is what makes you happy in a relationship it is doomed before it started.
