Two years ago I was diagnosed with cancer in my intestines
Two years ago I was diagnosed with cancer in my intestines. I had a massive surgery to remove a large chunk of my lower intestines and mesenteric artery mass. We were worried we wouldn't be able to have children, but the surgeon told us that we more than likely could, and it would be ok to start trying..... we tried for a year with no luck. We finally went to the obgyn that first tested my ovarian reserve, which came back that I only had one egg in reserve which was terrible for my age (32).... they tested my partner and his sperm count came back below average. Not terrible to where he had none, just very below what it should be. Then she did an hsg test on me which showed a large polyp in my uterus which would make it hard for an embryo to find a spot to bury into. The obgyn sent us to see a fertility specialist and told us the chances of having a baby on our own were slim to none. But nobody would do any sort of fertility treatment on me until I had surgery to have the large polyp removed. So we scheduled the surgery and had appointments in place with the fertility specialists and basically gave up all hope.. and quit trying to have a baby or tracking ovulation. The day before our first fertility appointment I took a pregnancy test at home.. and sure enough, we were somehow miraculously pregnant!!? We are so thankful and blessed to have been able to finally do it on our own!!
