flu shot while pregnant?

Who has gotten it? What were your reasons behind getting it? If you don't plan on getting one what is your reasons behind it? I have. Even debating if I should get it or not...my doctor told me today again I needed to get it

I got it. I know it doesn't prevent all types of flu but to me it was worth it especially being due in December. I also got a tdap because whooping cough has gone around already in Cincinnati.

I got mine. Pregnant women next to the elderly and babies are more at risk at getting the flu. The flu while you are pregnant can make you extremely ill and even kill you. I wasn't taking chances this year.

Really really recommend it! It don't hurt at all. When I found out I got pregnant I got a cold, it was the worst way to start off my pregnancy.. now only imagine how you could be with the flu!! It's horrible!

Have you ever had a cold while pregnant? Well the flu is so much worse and puts you and your baby at risk. I'll be getting my flu shot next weekend.

I won't be getting mine. My midwife hasn't even mentioned it to me yet.

I haven't gotten the flu shot for as long as I can remember (I actually don't remember when I got my last flu shot!) it's also been a good 3-5 years since I've gotten the flu last *knock on wood*
I've got a strong immune system to begin with. & although I do realize my immune system is compromised, I believe as long as you monitor your fever & symptoms & trust your body when you get sick, you'll be okay 90% of the time.

I just personally don't see the need for me. 
There haven't been enough studies done when it comes to the fetus & vaccines to feel safe putting it in my system! 
& it really only protects you against like 3 out of the hundreds and hundreds of strains.

I got mine because getting the flu during pregnancy increases your risk of other respiratory infections like pneumonia which could land you in the hospital for a few days. From what I can remember I got the flu vaccine with my first pregnancy too. No problemsolving with me or the baby. Getting the vaccine does not give you the flu as the virus used is inactive. It creates an immune response which has some similar symptoms as the flu. Infants cannot receive their first flu vaccine until 6 months old so they rely on the immunity from mom

I got it because I want my child safe and if there's a chance of that then I'm going to do it.

It's not a live virus so it CAN NOT make you sick. It can give you flu-like symptoms for a day or two but you are not ACTUALLY sick. If you get sick it's A. Not the flu. B. You were infected before you got the shot, or during the 2 week period it takes to kick in or C. You got a strain of flu that wasn't covered in the shot. They usually put, I believe it's the 3 most common strains in the shot, but sometimes the one going around isn't one of those 3.

Plus your immune system is really compromised during pregnancy. The flu for a pregnant woman can land you in the hospital and in extreme cases lose the pregnancy or you could die yourself. Again, extreme cases but it still happens.

Also my reasoning included that 3 weeks after her due date my inlaws will be coming. They will come through 3-4 airports in mid December to get here, and that's A LOT of germs. So I want my girl as protected as possible. I'm asking them if they would get the shot as well, and both my husband and I got the shot. I had zero symptoms

I'm not getting one. I usually don't anyway and am not prone to stomach viruses or I would get one. The shot is just their best guess at what strain will be most popular (h1n1 for example) so that is one reason you could still get it even with a shot. Another thing is that they are giving you a little bit of flu. That's how vaccines work. Usually, it's not enough to get you sick, but sometimes it could make you get the full on flu. Anyway, it's a personal choice, and I'm not an anti vaxxer by any means, but I just figure that there are plenty of other shots I do want her to get but I'd like to keep it to a minimum. So flu shot is a no go for me. Again. Personal decision.
