35 weeks and 3 days having pains

I was having period pain kind of pains and now it's just a sore pain on my lower tummy, rang midwife and said go relax and take some paracetamol as could be b hicks. I've had bad diarrhoea too, if it is b hicks why is this painful rather than just uncomfortable, can't get comfy in bed just dead tight and sore :( had no discharge etc just the pains (no pattern to them)
