When is the best time to go on maternity leave?

I'm a mom to be and 6 months pregnant. I'm due on the 18th of Feb. I read that babies don't usually come on their due date so I was thinking to work at least 2 weeks before my due date if possible. I think I only get 12 weeks of maternity leave.

i told myself i was going to work up until my due date but my last day will be in 3 weeks. i'll be a little over 36 weeks. i work retail management and it gets harder on my body everyday. i just decided to resign and reapply when and if im ready to go back.

If you can physically do it I would work up until the end. I am due 12/17 last day is 12/16. If she is late I have time off saved so I'll still get my twelve weeks with her.

What if you go out two weeks before due date then she is ten days late, you know?

I'm working up until 38.5 weeks and I totally regret it now. I'm 37 weeks now and have 6 working days to go, and it's so much harder than I expected. I'd go out at least two full weeks before my due date if I could go back in time and do it again / but of course every woman and every pregnancy is different!

I'm being induced December 26, but my last day of work will be December 22 (my daughter starts winter break December 23) if I had someone to watch my daughter while she was off school I'd work through Christmas Eve.

You can take it anytime. Just remember you only get 12 weeks with your baby. I'm in the same boat. Just turned 38 weeks and wanted to work until baby came, but it's been getting really hard with cramping and other pains, not to mention the puking so I might be taking it sooner.

I have always work right up to birth. Although it definitely gets harder towards the end I have wanted to spend every day possible with my little one.
