Lip and tongue tie help!!! Pleasee

Anybody else have a child with a lip or tongue tie, or both? My son has both. I'm sure its genetic cause I was born with it as well as my dad. Anyway he is 5 weeks and I'm still having the most painful breastfeeding ever. Its better now then it was at 2 weeks..but its still extremely painful. Has anybody had a child with this and gotten it removed and it got better? We have an appointment on the 3rd to see if we can get it removed. I just need to know I'm not crazy for feeling so much pain.
