Dental Work Anyone??

Has anyone gotten any dental work while pregnant?? I'm 13 wks pregnant and need dental work on a broken tooth.  I'm so nervous. I don't want to get any x-rays ...

I'm 33 weeks and am seeing a dentist tomorrow. I tried to wait until after the baby but the broken tooth is causing severe headaches now. I can't deal. My ob says it's fine, but my dentist office did require a letter from my ob stating what treatment was allowed.

You need to get a clearance from your dr. Im getting a root canal at 33 weeks and I've had xrays. They don't usually like to do any major work until after 2nd trimester.

I was suppose to have a filling today, but the dentist said they only like to do work during the second trimester. That's when it's safest

i went to the dentist when i just found out i was pregnant, they didnt do any xrays they said they can but they try not to. But it is safe, i have 2 cavities that they want to fix in my 2nd trimester

I work as a part time CNA and as a RDA and yes it is wise to check on your teeth much more regularly while pregnant. Because baby will take more of that calcium making your teeth and gums much more sensitive and prone to cavities. It is safe to extract teeth and put in fillings just not do anything surgically and stay away from the laughing gas. We can take x-rays as long as you are covered by our special aprons. I'm pregnant and I'm working around x-rays all day and baby is fine. Go see your dentist!

I'm a dentist and the risks are very low. I'm 34 weeks and had X-rays, cleanings and fillings. If you aren't comfortable then decline but know that some offices will have to delay treatment. Where I work we legally need radiographs to perform work. If a person declines then we delay treatment until after the baby is Born.

You should be fine! I was so nervous about doing anything with dental too, my MIL is a dental hygienist though and said that risks are pretty low and to just let them know you are pregnant.

I had to get fixed a broken molar at about 20 something weeks. I had no problem, just was all natural, no anesthesia, but it wasn't that bad. No x rays.

They shouldn't do anything until the second trimester. Just don't get X-rays and you should be okay!
