What do you think about at home dopplers?

Thinking about buying a Doppler. What do you ladies think? This will be my first child and I know it's not necessary but is it worth the purchase? Wondering how many have actually purchased an at home Doppler. If so, what brand did you get?

I don't recommend them. They can cause a lot of stress if patients can't find it or they "think" the heartbeat is irregular. I wouldn't get one. I just enjoy my ultrasounds and Dr appts and leave it to the professionals.

I got one and am SO glad I did! I had a subchorionic hemorrhage at 13 weeks, thought for sure I was losing the baby. As soon as we got home from the hospital and were told everything was ok, I ordered one online. It made a world of difference to have that reassurance! I knew that if I bled again, I would need to hear the heartbeat to calm down and know everything was ok. Luckily I didn't bleed again and I'm now 23 weeks but I checked the heartbeat once a week until a few weeks ago when I started feeling movements. To me, it was totally worth it.

My doctor actually recommended that I get one because I have an anterior placenta so I barely feel the baby. I've loved it! It's a learning process distinguishing between your heart rate, placenta and baby. So I think that's where the confusion comes in. It takes practice. But ya, my doctor was all for it. I have the Sonoline B one. I actually just used it tonight because I haven't felt baby much today - and he's all good!

I did, angel sounds. Found the heartbeat quickly at 12 weeks and find it easily every other week or so. Now at 23 weeks I can hear her move and kick he Doppler. Well worth the money and great for peace of mind when I don't feel her all day

I didn't get one. I know darn well that the second I couldn't find it I'd freak out and rush to the hospital and they would find it in 2 seconds and I'd feel like an idiot. I think they cause much more anxiety then help.

My midwife said that dopplers are extremely loud for the baby and can cause mild stress.  I don't think it is a good idea to add unneeded stress.

I bought mine from fetaldoppler.net for $37 and it was a wonderful purchase. Easy to find the heartbeat and so reassuring.

My experience is waist of money. At 20 weeks it couldn't get a stable signal. I bought one people said was popular but had no luck.
