Birthday Solo or With Friends

A while back they asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, I told them - go to see a specific movie. They said, "let's do it." However, I came to find out they now have plans to do it - separately - with their significant others. The same friends have offered to take me out to dinner, but I've been considering doing what I wanted to do - go to the movie. My long distance boyfriend offered to see it with me before my birthday, but I'm frustrated with my friends. What would you do? Go to see it with your boyfriend early and take my friends up on dinner OR see it on my birthday solo?
