Wouldn't it really depends on the color of everything else in the room it's going in- like walls, floorings, and other pieces of furniture?

I have a tan fabric coloured couch and as much as I LOVE the look, I am always terrified about stains, especially when people are over. I had a friend over the other day and she ate a slice of pizza and I guess unknowingly wiped tomato sauce on the couch 😩. I luckily had a steam cleaner to get rid of it when she left so she won't feel uncomfortable but was so worried it wouldn't come out.

Also, if you have pets that go on your couch it may get dirtier quicker.

I have a couch like that, the same exact color as the bottom photo. 
I voted for the top couch not because I think it is better looking, but because it will not stain as easy

I typically go more towards darker colors but the contrast with dark xool brown and warm lighter brown is weird. Bottom one is better, in my opinion.

Weirdly, I know this sounds counterintuitive but the light tan will show less dirt and stains. It's the same concept as a black car and a white car I guess. Both pretty though!

I had a light tan couch, with my hub and being messy, and 2 cats, and kids it got dirty fast and was hard to clean. We now have a greenish black couch and it's great. It doesn't show stains and it's easier to clean too.

I forgot to mention that I LOVE the bottom tan one but I know the top brown one will be better for stains and stuff. Would I be able to keep the bottom tan one clean? Or should I just go with the top brown one?

I own this exact couch.  The lighter color is beautiful but will stain so easy.  We've had it for almost five years I think and it's amazing!
