TTC ~ Age difference a big worry?

There is a 22 year age gape, I'm 20, and he is 42, my husband has no children that we know of, and we had a miscarriage almost two years ago, we tried after the miscarriage for 4-6 months but nothing happened, so I got Nexplanon for a little over a year, got it removed Aug 15th, we've been trying for 2 months now, but nothing so far. He had heavy drug/ alcohol usage when we first started dating (almost 3 years ago) so I'm worried that might cause issues, idk..... he has been clean for a little over two years? Just recently stopped smoking cigarettes (2/4 months)

Anyone have any suggestions or advice or success stories?
