Epidural?

What does an epidural feel like? Does it take away some pain? All pain/sensation? Or do you still feel a lot with it?

I got mine when I was 4 cm dilated. I didn't even feel it. It took away ALL PAIN until it was all over.  All I had to do is push...all I felt was a bit of pressure. No pain whatsoever. No pain while baby was crowning, no pain while baby's head was out, no pain while they where pushing on my belly for the placenta to come out, no pain while they put two stiches where I ripped..
No pain in my back after. No pain whatsoever.
But I also had a wonderful anesthesiologist that knew what the hell he was doing. . Not like I read on here where women get stuck with the needle 4-5 times, because they anesthesiologist is not experienced enough. .

Depends. Some people feel nothing getting it, some people feel a pinch, and some say it really hurts. You can get a "walking epidural" which is a low dosage or you can get the full one which in theory should take away all pain from basically the waist down, and you should only feel pressure. Sometimes it's really strong and some people can't feel anything at all.

And sometimes it just doesn't take, or it takes on one side or something. Really it all depends on your body and how good of an anesthesiologist you have.

The needle just felt like a pinch and I HATE needles but it wasn't bad at all (especially when you're experiencing contractions lol.) Once it kicked in I didn't feel the contractions anymore and I was really relaxed. The sensation is a little weird in your legs. They felt numb and heavy. But when it got close to start pushing they had me let it wear off a little bit so that I could push.

Barely felt it going in but the anesthesiologist missed three times :( I was already bedridden due to a pulled muscle and close to start pushing so I think my dose was pretty high. I literally was paralyzed waist down. I couldn't feel anything. I couldn't feel contractions or my own pushing. I had to take my nurses word for it that whatever I was doing was working. Daughter was born less then an hour later. With this pregnancy I intend to be more vocal about dosing now that I know it can be controlled. I want the lowest dose possible if I end up being an epidural.

For me there was all of the sensation but no pain. 
I had a forceps delivery so could feel it all (veryyyyy weird and uncomfortable) but not painful.

I was very afraid of the pain so it was a good option for me.

I was terrified of the needle but after feeling those unbearable contractions I was more than happy to get it. I felt mostly just pressure when they put the needle in. I couldn't feel anything from the waist down until after my son was born and then it wore completely off within 30 minutes and I was up and moving around. My husband was allowed in the room during my epidural but he almost passed out.... Which is common so not all hospitals allow father to be in the room for that. I loved my epidural though I never felt so relaxed and we laughed and had a great time until we met our baby boy.

It felt like a little pinch. It wasn't bad at all, especially in comparison to contractions. I got mine after 24 hours of contractions and at a 6. It worked for about 12 hours then I started feeling the contractions on only one side. The doctor lowered it when it came time to push so I could feel them and know when exactly I needed to push. The only thing that sucks is that I'll be 3 months postpartum in two days and I have horrible back pain right where the epidural was in my back.
