skinny baby !? TMI !

Question

I went to the doctor yesterday and she said my baby's to skinny, it's kinda upsetting she's healthy but skinny she's weighting 10 pounds 5 oz and 23 inches at 5 weeks 2 days 
Sorry for the picture but in my eyes  she's not that skinny / can you tell me how much your baby weighted at 5 weeks ? Thanks

This totally annoys me! My son is 3.5 weeks old and just now back at his birth weight (8lb 4oz). They had us so scared because he lost a lot of weight and was slow to gain it back. But my baby has an incredible appetite and started drinking 4oz when he was two weeks old. Seriously, the kid eats like a two month old. They had us believing he might have cystic fibrosis, etc. We went in for so many "weight check" appointments. My son was never not happy, and he always looked healthy! Doctors seem to think that all babies have to fall into a certain category. But if baby is healthy, eating well, and not upset, then don't worry. Babies grow at different rates! She could end up going through a big growth spurt before you know it and they'll be saying she's chunky lol.

You're baby is perfect! Don't listen to that stupid doctor. Babies grow on their own schedule. My oldest was 23 lbs from a year til he was 3. He just did not gain weight. Every child is different.

Was the doctor making a joke? Or could it have to do with her starting weight? My LO is 10lb 1oz at 5 weeks and the doctor said she's doing awesome. Your baby looks chunkier than mine, and my LO is a full inch shorter. 
Don't be afraid to tell the doctor next time you see her/him that the comment made you feel bad or confused you. 
(Side note: she sleeps in the weirdest positions!)

Maybe being 23in long makes her look thinner to your doctor? She may end up being kind of tall. She looks just fine to me!

Heh mine was 8lbs 15oz and 22.5in at 4weeks...my doctor said she is just long and skinny in nature but never said she is too skinny. As long as your baby is gaining weight, she is good :D i am curious to see what she will be on monday at 2months because she is growing out of her 3month outfits already 😱😂

Tell her to shut up.  Now if your baby was skin and bones ok but he has adorable chub to her!!
