Not being a feminist doesn't mean:
- You hate your gender/women.
- You don't support equal rights.
- You're ignorant to the rest of the women in the world's problems.
- You want to be oppressed.
- You want us to be ruled by men.
I know what I'm asking for when I post stuff like this. Mostly because it's against the norm, but also because of the huge preconception about it. And let's not forget the sensitivity of it.
But I'm an artist who likes to talk about and illustrate issues that some people might not want to talk about, but are far too important to ignore. You know, stuff like white people can be victims of racism and etc. I like to criticise social norms and so on, wether it's a well liked opinion or not. I don't care. If I feel like a topic is important to discuss, then I will discuss it.
Anyway, back to the topic of this post.
I've seen more and more women these days, that does not agree with feminism or want to be a feminist. And many women are scared to admit this as well, which honestly makes me sad and angry.
The conclusion that not agreeing with feminism or isn't a feminists is not as simple as many feminist believes. Every reason is different, every view and mindset is different. So to conclude that everyone who disagrees with feminism are women haters and ignorant to the problems women goes through in other cultures around the world and selfish if you're a white woman, is, for a lack of a better word: Stupid, childish and immature.
As I said before: We have different reasons. And to assume that every single person has the same reasons is what ignorance is, which is a word many feminist will use when arguing against non-feminists. That we are being ignorant.
This post is by no means an insult to feminists and feminism as a whole. It's more of an enlightenment to those in that group of people. To why people disagree with the new form of feminism and what it stands for. Especially here in the first world. Most of the feminism that I'm talking about is coming from the first world, because it has so many flaws and is full of hypocrisy.
I will begin to say that people doesn't hate or dislike the origin of feminism and it's original purpose. To bring equality to both men and women across the world, in a time were it was needed the most. It's still needed to day, but not in the third world. Women in the third world has it pretty good these days. Not everything is equal yet, but we don't need feminism to fix that. More on that later.
Not wanting to be a feminist or join feminism doesn't mean you hate women/your own gender. It also doesn't mean that you don't want to put the effort into making women in oppressive cultures and subcultures to be equal to men. People have different reasons for not wanting to belong to a group of people differs. But for me personally, is because I don't want to be biased and fed propaganda. The second reason is that I want to think on my own. I want me, myself, to speak what I believe in. I don't want a group to do that, because it will do more harm than good.
Not wanting to be a feminist or support first country feminism doesn't mean we want to be oppressed and ruled by men. It's because first world feminism and the new wave feminist has distorted, manipulated and trashed the true meaning and motivation of feminism. Most of it has been tarnished by people like Anita Sarkeesian, who I like to call a "fake prophet of feminism". People, when a person spouts out "men can't be victim of sexism", do NOT listen to them.
As you can see, it's not that we want to go back to how it was before. We want to vote, we want to be able to work, we want to be treated like humans.
Our decision to not agree with today's feminism, is because of its faulty logic and corrupted message.
Some feminists are just feminists because "stuff happened in the past". That is not a reason to become a feminists. It's to fix today's issues, not to moan and complain about stuff that is past us. It shouldn't be used as an excuse to be treated specially. But that is what some does. Not the majority, but some. And they are loud.
Then we have the feminists that makes us want to step away from first world feminism to begin with, so it doesn't gain more popularity. And they are the ones that wants to ban the word "bossy", because it apparently makes women shy away from being a boss (in looking at you Beyoncé. Act like the grown up you are), gets offended by every single "like a girl" joke, wanting to liberate women from hajibs, sexy is wrong, thinks that women deserves more than men and so on.
That is why we don't want to be associated with today's feminism. And I'm sad to see that this is adapting into cultures who really needs feminism. Like in the Middle East, some Asian countries, the many cultures in Africa and subcultures in America. And that's a huge step BACKWARDS for feminism and women in general, feminist or not. They need the original teachings, not this ludicrous and outrageous BS. Because it goes against everything that real feminism taught us.
Women should be EQUAL to men, not SUPERIOR.
Looking at it, today's feminist are oppressing their own. The women they are supposed to bring equality to. If a woman feels safe and wants to wear a hajib, do not feel obligated to force it off of her. It's not wrong to tell her she doesn't have to wear it. But if she wants to have it, do not take it off her. I urge you to read the story about a woman who thanked the Kurdish troops for defeating ISIS so she can wear her favourite Hajib again instead of the Burqa she was forced to use. There is a major different if wanting to wear something and being forced to. When it isn't forced, you shouldn't try to fix it because you feel obligated to.
Feminists also seems to oppress any other women that has different views than them. I bet there will be some in this comment section. Women can disagree and question feminism and it's their RIGHT to do so. If you question that right, you're a hypocrite. Do not censor people by any means.
Men can also be victims of sexism. As a gamer, I am annoyed by the complaints about skimpy clad women with big boobs and perfect bodies, when NO ONE wants to acknowledge that the same is happening to men as well. Same goes for movies, music and all types of media. Simply because "men can't be affected by sexism". That is a lot of BS and I can't believe people actually believe this. It is just as stupid as "white people can't be affected by racism". Yeah, because being the majority means that we are completely emotionless and cold as stone.
I was shocked when my friends were shocked. They were shocked at the fact that I've been more oppressed by my fellow female classmates from gymnasium than from any man I've met, because feminists in the gaming community said the complete opposite. And I can't help but get angry and sigh in frustration when I see a news segment with a 15 year old girl complaining how someone called her stuff online because she was a girl. Good. F-ing. GOD!
I could talk all day, and I probably will with a few commenters. But to summarise this wall of text, feminism is becoming what it was supposed to fight against: One genders superiority over the other.
So don't be scared for not being a feminist or not agreeing with their ideology. You have the right to think different and no one should judge you because of stupid preconception. Not agreeing with the majority or with a group, doesn't mean you're wrong. You just have a different way to look at things.
