Should postpartum stitches still be itchy and irritable after 1yr PP?

So, I just thought I'd ask if any of you ladies have experienced this. I am 1 year PP and my stitches that I had when I tore upward towards my clitors still are itchy and painful. Does it really take this long to heal? I asked my doctor but she shunned me off. No infection or other issue, just the site of the stitches hurt and itch still. Help! Lol
