Baby Led Weaning... Baby is not into it!
I'm a first time mom giving this baby led weaning thing a try. My daughter showed signs of readiness so we started her on solids three weeks ago. She was very interested in what was on our plates, good at grasping and sitting up, and even imitating chewing. We've given her potato, banana, toast, chicken, oats, broccoli, carrots and more. We sit down next to her twice a day and eat our food with a lot of gusto, lots of mmm's and yum's and exaggerated chewing.
At first she would freak out when food got in her mouth (after she put it there!). She would shout and holler and cough. Well, now she just won't bother. She'll squeeze it and make a fun mess then she's done in under five minutes, hollering to get let out of the high chair.
Am I doing it right? She's a chunky girl and gaining so I'm not worried necessarily. And I'm not in any rush to stop exclusively breastfeeding, it's going great. I just want to see if other moms are experiencing something similar. Maybe she's just experimenting and she'll be really ready to eat in a month or two?
If you're doing baby led weaning, how is it going for you in general?
