Who decides what rights we have?

Do you guys agree that LGBT rights issues should be handeled on a local level where citizens have more power to give their input or should they be decided by congress, senate, president etc on a nationwide level. Personally I don't think the government should have power over our lives like that and they should be decided locally where citizen voices can be heard. What about you?

No. I can't imagine how LGBT+ legislation and "issues" have be handled in smaller, rural states. It's should definitely be on a federal level in order to ensure all of the LGBT+ community is protected, no matter the state.

I just think... half the average citizens I've ever crossed paths with are as bigoted and ignorant as it gets in regards to the LGBT+ community. Imagine those idiots deciding what rights I have, eesh. I guess at least people in government, even if they have the same views, are probably even just slightly more likely to put their own problems aside for the sake of the country since yknow, that's kind of their job. (Not saying they DO, but more likely.) 
Having a bit of both would probably be ideal though? Somehow.

If you're talking about basic human rights then it should be decided on a national level since it's a global issue but nationwide is the highest we can directly affect. If it's on issues that vary more widely by county like education and assistance funding then it should be decided on a local level.

If you don't believe government should have that power over our lives, why do you think your moral beliefs should govern my right to be myselt or my right to marry who i love? Ridiculous. Signed, the lesbian wife of a transgender woman who is exceedingly thankful to live in Canada right now.
