Teething help!!! Do you use oragel?

Yes I posted this twice I really want opinions lol. For some reason I'm scared to try it out? I feel like 3 months is too young for medication. My babies grandma keeps insisting he needs it. If yes, what are your experiences with it?? If no, why not?? What do you use to help with teething? My baby is 3 and a half months old and is starting to scream and refuse his frozen plastic teething ring. Comment please!!

I'm a dental hygienist and won't be using it for my son. The active ingredient, benzocaine, can be toxic is the correct dose is achieved. With any topical anesthetic, it works best when the area is dry prior to the application which I next to IMPOSSIBLE in a baby. To me, it just seems like a waste of time more than anything, then add the toxic potential.  I'm planning to use frozen breast milk popsicles and Tylenol to help get my guy through!!

I don't think you're supposed to use it on babies. I feel like I read somewhere that it affects them negatively

I am a PNP and strongly advise my patients not to use it. I have actually taken care of a baby in the PICU with cyanide poisoning from oragel.

There is baby oragel but it's only for 4 months + personally I do not think it does anything. I've put it In my mouth to see what it does and nothing but when you put the toddler oragel in your mouth you can actually feel the medicine working so I think the baby stuff is just something to make you buy.

I used it on my first daughter before she was a year old but i won't be using it on my 2nd....I have been hearing a lot of terrible stuff about teething meds lately....if you are going to use it you have to make sure to not get it in the back of their mouth because it could numb their throat
