can you eat/drink anything right after birth ?

Was chatting with a friend and I  mentioned I was someone to deleiver ceviche and sushi to me as soon as I deliver baby .. she then told me that I probably couldn't that soon .

Any moms out there know what's the actual rule ? To eat raw fish and more coffee ?

You should definitely ask your doctor what kind of diet you should be keeping after birth if you are breastfeeding.

After my emergency csection it was the next day before i was able to have solid foods but they did allow me to have ice cream and yogurt 4 hours later. With my son i was allowed to eat few hours later. I didnt eat with either for few days as i just didnt feel like it. I was nauseous after my girl and i lost my boy and just couldnt face anything at first. Each hospital will vary so ask.

My dr actually asked me if I wanted to get breakfast within hours of delivery. The cafeteria was closing and she wanted to make sure I got some food if I wanted. I wasn't hungry though. For the first time in 9 months I wasn't hungry! With my midwife I can eat and drink all through labor and delivery to keep energy up but I never feel like eating just terrible thirsty.

About a hr or two after my daughter was born I all of a sudden  got soo hungry  so I asked my midwife for somthing to eat and she just smiled and produced a food try she had all ready to go lol

They pressured me to eat very soon after. I didn't feel like it, but I was anemic and they told me not to shower until I ate food lol and I really wanted to shower!

You just can't eat food if you've had a c section. I remember my sister only being able to have liquids for a little while.

I was on IV fluids so didn't feel hungry but I don't think there's any reason that you can't.

Just make sure hospital allows outside food and you may want to be careful with caffeine if you plan to breastfeed (not sure if it makes a difference that early though).
