I skipped a week

My pharmacy screwed up the automatic refill for my birth control and I went a full week without taking the pill. I followed the instructions and doubled up until I caught up but usually that only applies to one or two days tops. The only reason I am conerned is, my sister had something similar happen and it completely screwed up her cycle and then she had her period during random points and she really never knew when it was coming. It took her a long time to get back on track and I am worried that it'll happen to me as well.
