ovulating while on the pill

Does anyone else ovulate while on the pill? I've been on it for about 1 1/2 years and I still ovulate even though it's supposed to prevent you from ovulating. It's a lower dosage too, so I don't know if that means it's not gonna prevent me from getting pregnant since I ovulate. Me and my boyfriend use condoms too to be extra safe but if it broke, I just wonder if my pill would still do it's job.
