can you legally refuse hep B vaccine at birth?

I've read that hospitals won't let you be discharged until your baby has the hep B vaccine. I don't understand why baby even needs that. He's not at risk. Can you legally refuse the shot? Any insight would be helpful! FTM

Absolutely you can refuse them all!!!! They'll likely ask you a million times and make you feel guilty for not doing them but I could care less!!  Hep B is ridiculous to give to a new born. My baby will leave the hospital with vitamin K and that it is! I'm even refusing the antibiotic eye cream too! It's for stds and uh everyone is tested at their first prenatal appointment. Also, it's a option to postpone it until after skin to skin so why bother anyway?! Don't listen to those vaccine pushers! Seriously if theyd research what's actually in them... they wouldn't vaccinate either! Society makes you think you have to do them but you don't!

I have with my youngest two, we vaccinate I just do it a little slower than recommended.  I see no need to get the Hep b at birth, my babies won't leave my side much for at least the first few months.

You can refuse any vaccine. Even the vitamin k shot. I think they are bs. Doctors get paid on flu shots and vaccines. They won't even see your child sometimes if they haven't or if you don't want them to have certain shots. It's funny parents get all freaked out about Children who aren't vaccinated or had a flu shot. So they are basically saying they don't work, cause their vaccinated child will become sick???   a child who had a vaccine can't get it correct? But every time they get a flu shot they get sick... let their immune systems work it out.

You can absolutely refuse the Hep B vaccine at birth. Write it in your birthplan, and tell your doctors and nurses about this beforehand. Also make sure you NEVER leave your baby out of sight after he/she is born. Every procedure/health check of the baby must be done in your room, must never take the baby out of the room away from you the parents. There are so many stories where they give the vaccine without parents permission when they take the baby away for whatever reason. Hep B is NOT necessary for newborns. It also contains VERY high levels of aluminum which is damaging to baby's health.

You can refuse most anything.  At my hospital we have parents sign a refusal form for vitamin K and erythromycin.  We don't even have them sign anything if they decline hepatitis B.  A lot of parents wait until the 2 week appointment for hep B.

Yes. Technically there's really no need for them to have it or start the series until 6 weeks. At least get the vitamin k shot. That helps with the babies clotting their blood since they can't do it themselves.
