Waiting for my time

Today was suppose to be my first prenatal appointment. But my body had other plans.... had bright red bleeding and cramps. Went to the hospital but they could not tell me if I definitely had a miscarriage or not. They said that my hcg levels were way low but since I don't know how far along I am ,because I just found out I was pregnant 6 days ago. I go back Friday to get my hcg level tested again... I am super nervous! Am I having a miscarriage or not? Please help!
