Breastfeeding & Thumb Sucking At The Same Time?

Question

My 5 month old has just started trying to suck his thumb while breastfeeding. Doing that breaks the suction. I'm constantly pulling his hand out of his mouth! I've tried a silicone teething necklace for him to grab while nursing but it's hit or miss. Any advice?

Mine figured out how to make it work lol. He presses his thumb up against my boob and then he can eat and suck his thumb I haven't even noticed lately.

Omg I'm glad I'm not the only one my 10 week old wants to try and eat and put his fist in his mouth I try to take his fist away and give him a paci but he doesn't like his paci as much as skin

My daughter did the same thing for a week or so I think. she did stop eventually

Same, the week my LO realized he could put his hands in his mouth he tried to do it several times while nursing. It was thankfully short lived - but while it was happening the only thing that helped was holding his hand/letting him grasp into my finger. Good luck, I hope it's just a short phase for you too.
