About my cleft baby post UPDATE
UPDATE:
Because many of you have questions about clefts and what is my baby using on his face, I will explain. Cleft is a birth defect that occurs at the beggining of pregnancy, 5 to 10 weeks, when the face is forming and don't close all the way. It can be a result of drug use or alcohol (which is not my case as my pregnancy was planned and I started to take vitamins months before get pregnant). Or clefts are genetically inherited from mom or dad, and it can skip 5 generations. We don't have knowledge about this history in our family. But again, we didn't meet all people from 5 generations ago in our families. About the device my baby is using, called NAM. Is a device that makes the cleft smaller, he start using it from week 2 of life until 4 months, when will be his surgery. He must wear it 24/7 and we have appointments every week with an orthodontist to adjust and make it tighter every time. Just like a dental restrain. Thank you all for the support! I can answer any other questions you may have! ✨
