contractions? or not

So I'm a FTM and I am currently 40 weeks and 1 day, I am having sharp little pains in my vag area but I'm not sure if they're contractions or not? Any moms out there that can explain the whole contraction symptom. I'm sure many of us FTM would love some insight

My contractions were like exremely strong period pains at the bottom of my belly , i used to get sharp pains down beliw just because baby was so low and pushing her head down a lot , you will defo know when its labour , good luck! X

It feels like someone is tearing apart the muscles in your belly or if your SO can't rub your back without it hurting so bad you want to punch them in the face.. you wouldn't really feel it in you vagina. My baby is low and at 27 weeks 2 days she hurts my vagina to the point where it feels like she's coming out but it's all a normal painful process of pregnancy.
