Emergency contraception ??

A few days ago my boyfriend and I had sex without a condom. I'm currently on birth control. Later that night I completely forgot to take my pill and ended up taking it in the morning. I'm on my third week and should get my period in 5 days. This is my first time missing a pill. It's been 5 days since we had sex. Do i need to take emergency contraception and will it even be effective?
