complicating breakup

So my ex boyfriend broke up with me 2 weeks ago...😔. We loved each other and loved being around each other. I love his family as well as he does mine. I'm still so close with his family. I did everything for him and always made an effort in our relationship. I went to every football game he had and whenever he had a game he would say "I need my #1 fan there to cheer me on", we went to sadies only because he wanted to and I was nice of a girlfriend to go.  But whenever we got in an argument he kinda just shut down and made excuses and didn't really try and help the situation. The reasoning for him breaking up with me is that "we fought all the time". Around the time we broke up the weekend Before the breakup he ignored me for 3 days and every text I sent he read and didn't reply. I called his phone and his mom picked up and gave the phone to him and he barely said anything to me. The worst of all is he broke up with me over text. My best friend is friends with his family as well and we would all hang out together but now I'm just the one left out now out of he bunch and it really stinks even though I'm still really good friends with his family still. I've been thinking about talking to him to see if we could just be friends because honestly I really miss talking to him all the time and we actually were friends before we dated. Any thoughts?
