if your toddler wakes up early from their nap...
And refuses to go back to sleep- is it fair (or rather, would you) ask them to do a quiet activity on their own so you can rest and finish tidying? I'm a nanny and when my 3 year old girl wakes up an hour early from her nap I tell her she can
1) go back to her room and lay down quietly and I'll come get her when she should've woken up
or
2) I tell her she can sit and draw or do a puzzle on her own so I can finish the dishes or enjoy my cup of tea I just brewed.
usually she wants to play baby or go somewhere but if she should've been asleep I do not play with her. I do sit at the table and talk to her. But she is to do an activity by herself. What do you do? And would you consider doing what I do? My girl responds well to it and I think it's important that children can entertain themselves.
