anyone know anything about grills?

Trying to buy one for my brother but I need to score a good deal. Are brand names important when it comes to grills? Anyone know if there's brands to avoid? What's better charcoal or gas? 
If anyone could help me out that'd be great!!

My dad and fiancé both like charcoal grills, not sure what kind. I don't think it really matters. Lol. As long as it's big enough to fit the food!

Charcoal is better for flavor of food, but gas lights up faster. It depends on his preference. Like my dad likes his gas grill when he needs to cook a lot of food fast, but my husband totally prefers charcoal for the flavor no matter how long it takes. Lol
Brands sorta do matter, I know weber is a good one.

Personally, I much prefer charcoal.  My dad bought me a Kingsford grill this spring for my birthday.  I've been really happy with it.  I'm not an expert at it though by any means.
