Brown Discharge and Spotting

My periods are very irregular and ive never had sex. I used to get the brown discharge only after ive had my period (i looked up the reason and it said it was older blood etc) so i never thought it was a problem. Now, though, i cant go about daily life without going to the bathroom just to wipe because of the discharge. Im not sure whats wrong. Should i tell my mom and go to a doctor?
